Beginner Bass Guitarist Tips
If this is your first ever bass guitar, here are some beginner tips to follow for an awesome experience with your new stringed instrument:
Use A Piano If You Cannot Tune By Ear
A piano will insure that you have the most perfect tuning possible as you can use a piano as an absolute pitch reference.
Use Standardized Tuning
If on a 4-string bass, use the standard tuning of: E, A, D, G.
Insure Strings Are New Or Like New
If you cannot verify the state of your strings and are able to do so, purchase a pack of the same strings your bass came with and change all 4 strings out. If you aren’t able to do so, pay a guitar shop to change out all 4 strings to insure that they are new.
Keep It Clean
After playing your bass, insure that no fingerprints or dust exist. Clean your guitar with a micro fiber cloth and include the neck, body, and strings.
Get A Full Setup Done
A full setup insures that everything is still in working order. This includes changing of strings, adjustment of the neck, pickups (if any,) bridge, etc.
If you cannot perform a full setup on your own, inlist the help of a guitar shop to correctly do this for you.
